Nylon or Polyurethane Pallet Truck Wheels – Which is better?

Deciding between Nylon Pallet Truck Wheels and Polyurethane Pallet Truck Wheels is a mostly straight forward decision, but for most people making it, it’s unchartered territory.

Noise

Noise reduction is a strong point of polyurethane wheels. They do not make a lot of noise while in use. Most other types, including Nylon, make audible noise while in use.

Abuse

Nylon’s strong point is its ability to take abuse. They are harder than other materials and while other materials might scratch, gauge, or corrode, they remain intact.

The abuse goes the other way as well. Since they are harder, they have more impact on the floor. Thin tile and laminated floors could take a beating, so it might be better to go with a softer material like Polyurethane

Conclusion – In a customer setting go Polyurethane and in an industrial setting go Nylon

Polyurethane wheels are better in customer environments where noise reduction is important. They have the added benefit of being less harsh on the more expensive and delicate flooring found in these settings.

Nylon wheels are better for industrial and manufacturing settings that might put dents and scratches into the wheels. The hardness and lack of wear come with more noise, but in these settings, that’s seldom noticed.
