Company Mourns Loss of Founding Owner

FREWSBURG — We are sad to announce the passing of one of JIT Toyota-Lift’s founders and owners, Mary I. Short, at age 79 on February 12, 2013.

Mary and her husband, Earl “Bud” Short, started Jamestown Industrial Trucks in 1983. They acquired the Toyota line in July of 1986 and have been a valued representative of the brand for more than 26 years. Mary retired from the company 15 years ago, but she continued to serve on JIT Toyota-Lift’s Board of Directors as her daughters (Joyce Schwob and Julie Sadowski) assumed ownership along with their husbands, Scott and Dan.

Mary was survived by her husband Earl “Bud” Short whom she married in 1952. Three daughters, Laura Jean Silvis, and Joyce (Daniel) Schwob of Frewsburg; and Julie (Scott) Sadowski of Kennedy; a son, John (Wendy) Short of Frewsburg; eight grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Abbey Rose Sadowski, two brothers, and one sister.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m.Tuesday at the Busti Church of God. The Rev. Roy Ferguson, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Frewsburg. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the Peterson Funeral Home, Frewsburg.
